In the spring semester of 2020, Japanese universities were forced to switch to online lessons in response to the COVID-19. In this paper, we set the following question, “Did the design of our own remote teaching have the same effect as face-to-face lessons?” and verified its effects based on students’ evaluations, suggesting that the conditions of excellent online lessons include the quality of pre-assignments, outputs in online lessons, and exchange of opinions, and that full consideration should be given to student life.
