The purpose of this study was to investigate the occurrence of injuries in collegiate athletes. Subjects were 605 college students. The following results were obtained. 1. Most injuries occurred in freshmen (66%). 2.Many injuries occurred during exercise in March, followed by May and October. 3. When injuries were classified by body region, ankle accounted for the largest percentage (26%), followed by knee (17%) and shoulder (11%). 4. When injuries were classified by diagnosis, rupture of ligaments accounted for the largest percentage (18%), followed by sprain (17%) and fracture of bones (14%) Based on the results of this study, we need to educate coaches and athletes to evaluate the
effective strategies to minimize the risk of injuries. |
