However, in order to make the study of history relevant and motivating for students, interest can be engaged through cultural objects of a country under study. This cultural attraction of its popular culture has been appropriated by Japan through its soft power influence. This study looks to investigate to what extent has Japan’s popular culture played in nurturing peoples’ interest in the country and its history and the perception of benefits of studying history.
