This is because Japan’s early childhood education aims to cultivate the basics of lifelong personality formation through play. It is well known that the importance of “play” as a method of education is based on the characteristics of childhood development. Kurahashi emphasized that “the starting point of early childhood education is that the thoughts and activities of childhood are undifferentiated” and that the development of infants themselves in the developmental process of play was emphasized. Kurahashi’s theory of early childhood education has had a significant impact on modern childhood education. First, as a result of examining the significance of education in early childhood, it was thought that it would cultivate the basics of personality formation throughout life. In addition, I considered Kurahashi’s theory of early childhood education from the viewpoints of history, the relationship with modern daycare, and the viewpoint of practitioners.
