This paper deals with firm’s FDI from developing countries to developed ones as“ Uphill direct investment,” and examines the substantial problems such as why the FDI by Chinese multinationals to the EU were possible, as well as why and how it was made possible, using both the greenfield investment and cross-border M&A. This paper, moreover, examines the case of Geely’s Volvo acquisition and confirms that through its acquisition Geely has acquired strategic assets or created assets such as proprietary technologies, brands and trade names, organizational capabilities, market and sales channels, and professional stuffs, and makes it clear that they are activating those assets as their properties using“ Double Handspring” strategies as Nakamura (2019b) showed. Finally, this paper examines the status quo of Chinese MNC’s progress in EU market under the“ One belt, one road” plan proposed by the Chinese government, from the viewpoint of Uphill FDI.","subitem_description_language":"en","subitem_description_type":"Other"}]},"item_10002_description_5":{"attribute_name":"抄録","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_description":"新興国企業である中国多国籍企業の先進国たるEUへの直接投資(FDI)についての本格的な研究は重要であるにもかかわらず現状では非常に少ない。本稿では発展途上国もしくは新興国の企業による先進国への直接投資をアップヒル型直接投資として捉え,中国多国籍企業のEUへの直接投資がなぜ可能なのか,何がそれを可能にさせているのか,どのような方法で可能になるのか,という本質的な問題をFDIの2大手法であるグリーンフィールド投資とクロスボーダーM&Aの両面から解明した。さらに,具体的なケースとして,吉利汽車によるボルボの買収について検討し,この買収によって関連特許,ブランド,人材と技術,市場などの戦略的資産(創造性資産)を獲得していることを確認した。前稿(中村,2019b)に続き,本稿でも当初先進国で通用する競争優位性を持たない中国多国籍企業が,先進国たるEUに進出後,戦略的資産(創造性資産)を獲得し,それらを「どんでん返し戦略」によって自らの競争優位として活用している実態が明確になった。最後に,中国政府の
