Especially, a decline in literacy is a crucial problem because it composes the base of any scholastic learning. In this paper, we have tentatively made a “competitive book reading program” which intended to improve the student’s motivation for reading. The participants of this program were 78 university students (49 males). They were grouped as Higher-readers and Lower-readers according to the amount of book they read in usual life and measured the program’s effects. In the result, we found students in both groups show positive attitude to book reading and metacognition (monitoring). This result indicates that “competitive book reading program” provides a considerable effect irrespective of the usual amount of book read. Therefore, building the program in first-year experience at university will also be effective.}, pages = {69--77}, title = {大学教育への導入に読書を用いることの有効性に関する試験的検討}, volume = {5}, year = {2012} }
